With the closet makeover nearing completion and the light at the end of the tunnel in full view, I’m beginning to think about how we are going to finish off the closet to the bedroom. When we bought the house, the closet door was broken and so we removed it and lived without a door all this time. I did eventually hang curtains to close off the room but B and I both really want to finish the room off with a door.
Barn doors are super popular and though we’ve talked about doing double skinny barn doors, we keep thinking that we don’t really want something so trendy that may not be as cool in 5 or 10 years. We have some spare doors lying around in the attic but I would really love to do something a little more special or unique.
I’ve been really leaning toward doing some kind of french doors. The bedroom is really small and space is tight so french doors would keep the space required to swing doors to a minimum while maybe looking a little more unique or special.
While I haven’t decided on the exact door style, I keep thinking that something with glass would be great for letting light come through since there is a window in the closet. I don’t really want a full view of the closet from the bedroom though so maybe something with frosted glass would be good. I know I don’t want glass doors with curtains so whether we end up doing solid doors or glass has yet to be seen.

Whether we buy bi-fold doors and turn them into french doors or build our own, I think that french doors are a good way to go in such a tight space. We could do the same to the bathroom door eventually to tie them together and really make the master suite feel special.
No matter what we end up doing, the closet is a great upgrade to the master suite and I cannot wait to share with you the finished project!
