5 Style Must Haves for Spring

Lifestyle· Self Love

five spring style must haves
It’s been feeling a lot like spring here in Central PA lately, and it’s getting me more and more ready for warmer weather.  With the spring-like temps, I’ve started pulling out some of my spring pieces and I am realizing that there are a few essentials I gravitate toward over-and-over this time of year.  These are the pieces that seem to come back year after year too so I’ve rounded up some of my spring style must haves that work in just about everyone’s wardrobe.

Utility Jacket

I bought my first utility jacket version several years ago and I know it will be a piece I go to for springs (and falls) to come.  Every year I see great options available and this year I upgraded my old 3/4 sleeve version with a long sleeve version with a boxier feel.  What I love about utility jackets is that they go with just about everything.  They layer well over a spring dress, they go casual with a graphic tee and jeans and they can be worn over a button down for a more polished look.

I actually really love Old Navy’s version and this is the one I  went with.  It’s a great heavy fabric without being too heavy in warmer temps.  I also love that it’s boxy but with the drawstring waist, can be worn with a little more shape which is more flattering on my body.

T-Shirt Dress

When I buy clothing, I’m always looking for versatility.  I don’t want to waste money on something I can only wear one way.  I’m learning through my new found love for Trendsend that simple, classic pieces provide the most flexibility and that includes a t-shirt dress of some kind.  I’m not sure that this the right term across the board but I’m referring to the simple dress made from a t-shirt like material that can easily be dressed up or down.  They tend to look great with sneakers and a denim jacket, they look cute on their own with sandals and a long necklace or they can be elevated with a great jacket and wedges.

This dress was in my Trendsend box in February.  I wasn’t sure about it because it is so body conscious but when I tried it on I really loved it.  It’s a dress I know I’ll wear a lot when the weather gets a little warmer.

I loved my Trendsend version so much I decided to get this dress too.  This is one that I was debating on for months after seeing it on Pinterest several times.  The gray version gives me a neutral base that works with tons of other pieces I already have.  That is always something important to consider.  The ruching, like the one from Evereve, is super flattering too!

Graphic Tee

Graphic tees are everywhere!  From rock band logos or funny sayings to cute graphics of animals; there seems to be one out there for everyone.  What I love about a graphic tee is that they lend themselves to getting creative.  Throw one one with a pencil skirt for a casual office look or layer one under a blazer with skinny jeans and heels for a girls night out.  The possibilities are endless!

Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are around all year, I get it.  Here is Central PA though, winters can be cold so showing even a sliver of ankle or leg doesn’t always work given our unpredictable weather.  When temps start rising though, I start pulling out my boyfriend jeans.  I have darker, more polished versions and I have lighter, distressed versions each with a slightly different shape which gives me options.    Boy friend jeans work with booties, sandals, and heels which I think makes for a perfect spring staple.

“Shopper” Tote Bag

B and I do a lot of long weekend trips through the spring, summer and fall.  When we make those trips, I always carry a large tote bag.  It’s usually one I can throw over my shoulder to keep my hands free.  The perfect spring tote needs to be big enough to carry my water bottle, an umbrella and any small treasures we pick up on our adventure.  I personally love a slouchy style that has a more casual vibe with a simple design but the options are endless.  Just be sure to find one that fits your personal style and lifestyle.  I love one that works great with shorts and flip flops but that also looks just as cute with a dress and wedges for a casual date night on the boardwalk.   They also make the perfect everyday bag for running errands or running out to meet a client.  They are big enough to throw in my laptop and a file and all my personal essentials.

Bonus:  Denim Jacket

I didn’t do a round up of denim jackets, but ladies, if you don’t have one you should!  Whether you for for a splurge or opt for a more bargain version, you wont be disappointed.  Just be sure to find one that is shaped to suit your body type.
Spring is just around the corner.  Maybe it’s already making an appearance where you are.  We all have our favorite pieces for each season that work for our lifestyle.  These  five six pieces are simple ones that I think work in most of our wardrobes.  They are also pieces that will work year after year.  Do you have a different spring style must have?  I’d love to know what you can live without!

5 Ways to Transition Your Decor from Fall to Christmas (Without Feeling Rushed)

There’s something about a cottage-inspired home that instantly feels welcoming. Maybe it’s the layers of soft fabrics, the warm glow of a lamp in the corner, or the way everyday items are displayed with charm. To me, “cozy” doesn’t mean cluttered — it means creating a space where you can truly relax and enjoy the simple beauty of home. Over the years, I’ve discovered a few essentials that always make our home feel inviting and comfortable. These cozy touches are timeless, affordable, and easy to add no matter the size or style of your home. 🛋️ Soft Layers & Textiles Nothing says cozy like a stack of pillows and a throw draped over the sofa. I love mixing neutral tones with subtle patterns — florals, stripes, or checks — to create that layered, collected look. In bedrooms, a quilt or coverlet at the foot of the bed adds both charm and warmth. Image Suggestion: Wide shot of your living room sofa with throws and pillows layered. Pin-worthy vertical image. 🕯️ Warm Lighting Overhead lighting can feel harsh, so I rely on lamps, sconces, and even candles to create a warm glow. A cottage-inspired home shines with layered lighting — the soft glow of a lamp in the evening makes a room instantly more inviting. Image Suggestion: Close-up of a side table with a lamp, book stack, and candle burning. 🌿 Natural Elements Fresh flowers in simple vases, a basket by the door, a vintage wooden bowl — natural elements bring warmth and texture to a cottage home. Even faux greenery works if you mix it thoughtfully. Image Suggestion: Seasonal arrangement on your entryway table or kitchen counter (sunflowers, hydrangeas, or eucalyptus in fall). 📚 Personal Touches Books, artwork, and vintage finds tell your story. A stack of well-loved novels, a thrifted oil painting, or a collection of blue-and-white dishes make a space feel lived in and personal. Cozy isn’t about buying new — it’s about surrounding yourself with what you love. Image Suggestion: Styled bookcase or coffee table vignette with books + art + personal accents. 🧺 Comfort Underfoot Rugs are one of the easiest ways to add coziness to a room. I love mixing a natural jute or sisal rug with a smaller patterned rug layered on top. It adds instant warmth and that collected, cottage feel. Image Suggestion: Angle of your living room or bedroom showing layered rugs. 🍵 Kitchen Comforts A cozy home isn’t complete without the kitchen. For me, it’s having a favorite mug for my morning coffee, simple linen towels, and a candle flickering while I cook dinner. These small details make the everyday feel special. Image Suggestion: Coffee setup with mugs + candle + linen towel. Conclusion At the end of the day, creating a cozy cottage-inspired home isn’t about following strict rules. It’s about layering soft textures, adding warm light, and filling your rooms with pieces that feel personal and meaningful. These cozy essentials are what make our house feel like home — and I hope they inspire you to create the same in your space.
