When life gives you lemons…make lemonade. Yes, my friends, that’s what I’m doing here today. Let me explain.
Welcome to the new Bethann Renee blog!
While this is far from the big launch I’d planned for the end of the year, sometimes things happen and you decide just to jump. I’m not looking back!
This blog, formerly Twig and White, began as an outlet for me in 2015. It’s been a side project that I’ve worked on inconsistently for most of that time. While I’ve often wanted to go full-time, my current full-time job, my stationery company, has made it difficult to make the full transition and admittedly, there is a part of me that doesn’t want to give up the stationery.
A year or so ago, I decided to start bringing these two worlds together. While I’d been more open about my ‘day job’, here, I never really shared anything over in my business space about what I do here.
Last Summer, I began a big overhaul of my stationery company from the ground up and it was finally at that point where I was ready to start cross-promoting and giving this blog the same kind of overhaul so that it was more set up to achieve my goals. Ultimately I want to grow both spaces together.
Then my Dad got sick and I did the absolute bare minimum to get by so I could be present with my family. Momentum is a real thing in business and things slowed at that point.
This year has dealt its share of blows, enough to last a couple of years, but I never lost sight of what I’ve wanted to do. I’d already been promoting Twig and White as the new name “Bethann Renee” (my name), but the domain and most social sites remained unchanged.
Illustration is where the initial bridge between my two spaces will be so I knew that I wanted an illustrated logo and identity elements for the new Bethann Renee blog. It’s been just over a month since it’s been complete but the full changeover wasn’t planned until late in the year after I’d had the opportunity to overhaul the website, change out the graphics and links, etc.
Then my Pinterest account was suspended. My initial reaction was to freak out but it wasn’t a shock after I’d recently realized I took some bad marketing advice without doing my homework to make sure I knew what I was doing. This was my fault and I didn’t bother appealing.
My thought process then quickly moved into action mode and I decided to make the full transition to the correct domain, set up the correct accounts, and stop waiting for the perfect time. Now is that time.
For anyone that’s followed along throughout this journey so far, thank you so much for being here through all the ups and downs. For those of you that are new, welcome! I cannot wait to see where we go from here!
Things around here are going to continue to evolve. I’m revamping the topics I’ll cover, I’m branching out more into social media, and working hard on photography and even video to bring you only the best content to help you create your simply beautiful life!
