I am so excited today to get to share my vintage baking pan wall sconces with you! I’ve been planning this for a couple of months, scouring thrift stores, searching Etsy and Ebay, slowly collecting just the right combination of vintage baking pans for this fun project.

This past summer I was feeling a little burned out with Pinterest and my usual sources of inspiration. I was looking for some new sources for ideas and picked up a few Martha Stewart books from the 80s / 90s. I loved them so much, I bought a few more until I had accumulated quite a collection, all with sticky notes sticking out from several pages where I’d marked things that inspired me. Never underestimate all the places you can gather inspiration!
One of the ideas that stood out the most were the backing pan sconces featured in one of the books. Such a simple idea and yet so beautiful! I decided to wait for Christmas to create my own version as part of my holiday décor. There is just something about the warm glow of candles this time of year.
For the past couple of months, I have been slowly collecting vintage baking pans in unique shapes and textures. I didn’t really have a specific layout in mind because I didn’t know what I’d find. In the end, I have collected enough to recreate a very similar collection to the one in the book.
After debating on what wall to display these on, B and I agreed that our kitchen wall not only gave us the space to display them beautifully, but seemed like the perfect spot given that they are vintage baking pans and molds. I only wish now that our walls were a different color to highlight these better.
How to Make Baking Pan Wall Sconces
To create these diy sconces, I bought vintage clip on Christmas Tree candle holders from Ebay and then bought a pack of mini taper candles (here: via Amazon) and simply put them together.
To hang them on the wall, I bought a set of plate hangers in an assortment of sizes (via Amazon) and use command hooks (via Amazon )
Then it was just a matter of deciding on the layout. It was that easy and what a sunning addition to our kitchen!
I have already decided that since these technically aren’t Christmas decorations, I’ll be leaving these up indefinitely! I think it will be fun to see how I can change them up for the seasons.
