Lifestyle· Seasonal & Holidays

7 Sep

Welcome back to The Simply Beautiful Life, my weekly series where I share simple ideas, cozy inspiration, and the little things that make everyday living feel special. Think of this as your Sunday coffee companion — a way to slow down, savor the season, and add more beauty to your week ahead.

Seasonal Spotlight

After enjoying the long Labor Day weekend camping with the family at our property in the mountains and enjoying the start to the changing leaves and cooler days, B and I came home and harvested more of our garden, including our first ever potato “crop”. We tried the bucket method and I’d say it isn’t a bountiful harvest but we’re excited to enjoy our home-grown potations and are anxious to do this again next year.

✨ Words to Carry With You

“Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature.”
— Friedrich Nietzsche

This is so true for me. Fall isn’t just a change in the weather, it does something to me internally. I come alive in so many ways!

🏡 From My Home

I’ve been working on some plans for a few small updates in our kitchen and pantry area to get things more organized for the season ahead. As we move into fall, I find myself cooking more, so having my favorite baking staples at arm’s reach feels like such a luxury. I’ll be sharing more soon about how I organize my pantry shelves. Our pantry isn’t aesthetic but it’s functional!

🍎 Savor the Season

With apples in season, I made my favorite easy Apple Cider Bundt cake for the family this past weekend and it was a hit! Now I’ll be on the lookout for my personal favorite apply variety (Cortland) and I’m eyeing an apple crisp for the week ahead. This is the sweet spot of late summer meets early fall, and I love celebrating both at the table.

💛 Things I’m Loving

  • A cozy cardigan I pulled from the back of my closet — ready for cool mornings. I also have this in my cart for a versatile, oversized option: PRETTYGARDEN Women’s 2025 Oversized Cardigan Sweaters Trendy Chunky Knit Long Sleeve V Neck Button Down Fall Winter Outfits I also have my eye on this one for the texture and buttons: PRETTYGARDEN Women’s 2025 Oversized Cardigan Sweaters Trendy Chunky Knit Long Sleeve V Neck Button Down Fall Winter Outfits
  • The second Penn State football game on in the background this weekend and cheering the Phillies on during their final month of regular-season games.
  • Seasonal flavors in hot coffee instead of iced coffee.
  • My stack of “spooky season” books to read this fall plus my favorite decor boogs full of fall decorating ideas — always inspiring!
