Our Elegant Red and Green Christmas Dining Room

Do you decorate the same way every Christmas or do you change things up year after year? I fall somewhere in the middle. Certain things, like our fireplace mantel have remained the same in recent years because I love it so much but other areas, like our dining room are places where it’s fun to experiment and change things up. Aside from our Bedroom, the dining room is one of my favorite spaces this holiday season and today I’m here to share it with you.

Our elegant red and green Christmas Dining room started with this vintage set of china I picked up at a local thrift store a few months back. I was originally planning on hunting red dishes for Christmas but I fell in love with these and loved the challenge of making them work for Christmas.

The vintage red glasses and dessert bowls are borrowed from my mom. They are the most beautiful deep red color and I love that the shape is so simple. To tie everything together, I found this gorgeous tablecloth.

My table requires a 140” tablecloth and because it was sold out in that size, I opted for the 54” square version and used it as a table throw. I really like this look so it didn’t feel like a compromise at all. (For the price, this brand is a really great quality and all the designs are beautiful. I highly recommend checking them out.)

I kept the centerpiece really simple. It’s basically a flocked greenery garland and a large candle. I did add two vintage glasses (thrifted) to use as votive holders toward the ends of the tables. This brought in a little more green and felt like just enough for everything to feel completed.

One the built-ins at the end of the room I added two small trees and filled my milk glass punch bowl with ornaments. I love the white with all the red and green!

I had to move my washstand into the dining room for the holiday so it gave me the perfect spot to display some of my vintage Pfaltzgraff Heritage dishes with some festive additions of course.

My stacked baskets made a perfect place for another small tree on the opposite size of the room. I feel like you can’t have too much Christmas especially when it’s in the form of trees and greenery!
