Fall Tablescape: Mixing Vintage and New for a Unique Fall Decor Style

At Home· Fall Decorating· Kitchen & Dining· Seasonal & Holidays· Thanksgiving

17 Nov

Fall has arrived and despite all the negative things in the world, we can make what we have at home positive and beautiful.  A refuge from all that the world has been throwing at us.  For  many of us this year, Thanksgiving is most likely going to look different, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most of it.

Today I’m sharing with you how I mixed vintage and new elements for a unique fall decor style in my dining room using teal and brown.

About a year and a half ago my mom gave me a vintage set of dishes that my grandmother pieced together over many years to give to my mom when she got married and had her own home.  I remember these dishes from my childhood, proof that my mom and dad used this set for many years after they were married.

I have always had a love of vintage home items, I guess because they remind me of my grandparents and as an adult, I still use a lot of vintage items in my home as an homage to my grandparents.

To create my simple Thanksgiving table, I used this vintage set of dishes as my starting point.  I found teal napkins that play off the teal in the dish pattern and used a simple, neutral stripe farmhouse style table runner.

To keep the table from feeling too vintage or old, I added a single centerpiece which is made up of a simple fall garland and white pumpkins.  This adds the “fall” to the otherwise season neutral table.

This mix of vintage and new not only creates a unique fall table, it also feels casual and comfortable.  The perfect vibe for this Thanksgiving.
