Decorating for Christmas isn’t just for your home’s common areas. See how I added a warm festive feel to our master bedroom for the Christmas Season.
Hello friends! December is proving to be a crazy one and I think that things are going to be a little light around here. B’s been traveling for work and between taking care of the house, getting ready for Chritmas and work in the shop, I’ve been staying super busy.
One of the first spaces I “finished” for Christmas was our master bedroom. I’d been planning this space for weeks and was really excited to see it all come together.
Because the bed is often the focal point of a bedroom simply because it’s the largest element in the room, I always like to start there and then build everything else off of the bed.
The bed started with lots of neutrals. From crisp white sheets to my new Wheaton Striped Linen/Cotten Duvet Cover in Flax from Pottery Barn. (find it here) The fabric is beautiful and the color is the perfect neutral. It’s so versatile, we’ll be using it all year round.
To add a little color, I layered pillows and the throw at the end of the bed. The euro pillow covers and throw are actually older bedding pieces, also from Pottery Barn in the Wells Palampore pattern. The throw is a duvet cover that I’m using without a comforter inside. I had my eye on some holiday bedding but decided that I’d rather use something I have and holiday bedding can really only be used for a short time each year.
To add a little holiday decor to our end tables without adding a lot of clutter, I lined a couple holiday themed bowls with a few branches from our boxwood in the backyard and then filled them with metallic christmas ornaments. A super simple detail that gives our nightstands a little color.
On my nightstand, I also placed one of two poinsettias B surprised me with. They are just so pretty and one of them fits perfectly into my ivory thrifted pot (also seen here and here).
Above the headboard, I added a faux garland and hung a few handmade stockings from one of my great aunts. I have several of these little stockings in various sizes that you’ll see throughout my bedroom decor.
In B’s corner I decorated a pencil tree. The slender shape fits perfectly into tighter spaces but because it’s 5’ tall, it’s still substantial enough to not look too dinky. I used several of the handmade stockings from my Great Aunt mentioned above plus a few other ornaments. This has been such a pretty addition to our bedroom this year and maybe my favorite spot in the house so far.
Our warm and festive Christmas bedroom is a cozy place to fall asleep at night.
