Hello Friends! I’m so excited to share a super easy and fun project today just in time for fall! It’s the first diy project of the season and it’s such a good one!
My easy DIY faux oak leaf wreath was inspired by the beach house. We have oak trees in the front and back yards and I just love the shape of the leaves. Rather than wait for the leaves to fall to the ground, I decided to seek out some fake ones to make an inexpensive wreath with lots of color to bring a little of our beach house back home.

This project requires little to no skill and just a couple hours of time. I had a lot of the supplies already but the supplies don’t add up to what a beautiful full wreath like this would cost in the stores!
To create your own version of this simple DIY fall wreath you need just a few supplies:
- 16” metal wreath frame
- Artificial Leaves (mine are from Hobby Lobby and are currently sold out online, similar here.)
- Floral Tape
- Scissors
The amount of leaves you need will depend on the size of the leaves, how much overlap you create, and the size of your wreath frame. For reference, I used four packs with 35 leaves per pack.
How to Make the DIY Wreath:
- Start by clumping leaves together in groups using floral tape. I made mostly groups of thee and mixed in a few groups of 2 leaves as well.
- Attach your leaf groupings to your wreath frame using more floral tape. Stagger the groups across all four wires all the way around.
- Adjust as you go for a uniform look. (I found that in some areas I had my groups of leaves too close together and other areas, too far apart.)
- Continue to attach your leaf groupings until you are all the way around.
That’s it, this diy project really was that easy! Start to finish, it took me under two hours and I’m sure you’ll be seeing this wreath make an appearance again and again in my fall decor this year. For the time being, I’m loving how the bright colors pop against our black front door.
