The Powder Bath Reveal

At Home· Bathroom· Buildable Projects· DIY· Projects· Renovations

Our first floor half bath is finally finished and put back together.  What I thought was going to be a quick weekend makeover, turned into a more complicated and time consuming project.  Between trips to the DE house and our sweet Stewie’s surgery, I found that life really got in the way of this project for a time.

While there are still a few small things I’d like to accomplish in this tiny space, it’s so much better than it was!

The floor tile made all the difference and I must say actually makes the room feel bigger.  I thought the pattern might be a lot for the space so I kept the colors simple and neutral but the tile had the completely different impact.

The grout is a warm, putty color that pulls out the lighter shade in the tile.  The walls are two tone; a creamy white on top and a warm, medium gray on the bottom.

The vertical shiplap wainscoting is just the right element to add texture and interest without competing with the floors.  It also gives interest to the blank back wall even without art.

I plan to rehang the metal storage basket that was on this wall.  The black basket will tie in to the black in the floors and break up all the cream.

I did decide to add shaker pegs along the back wall and painted them to match the walls.  This simple addition adds just the right amount of detail.

The vanity, mirror and ladder over the toilet were kept from the bathroom before and even with the new color palette, they fit perfectly into the design.

I still want to swap out the hardware on the vanity and the light fixture but for now the room looks great.
