8 Outfits I Have on Rotation for Late Summer Style

Lifestyle· Self Love

14 Aug
Where does fashion rank in your world?  Do you like clothes and looking cute but don’t have the time, money, or know how?  Do you struggle with dressing for your changing lifestyle?  Do you simply struggle with knowing how to dress as you get older?
I have always liked clothes and had a real interest in real life fashion but struggle a lot with it.  My lifestyle as an adult has changed drastically more than once and as I get older, I feel unsure sometimes about how best to dress that’s practical, affordable and age appropriate.  I’m guessing you feel a lot of the same things.
I’m trying something new and sharing with you some of my favorite outfits, ones I actually wear regularly with sources.  My hope is that by providing you real world style, it will inspire you too.  Today’s post is all about late summer looks.

Dressed Up Shorts

Blue Tiered Back Tank – Loft | Gingham Shorts – Loft | Black Sandals (Boscov’s, old) Similar Here or Here
If you live somewhere that gets super hot in the summertime, this is a great look that is casual and comfortable but polished too.  Living in Central PA, our weather runs the full spectrum from bitter cold and snowy in the winter to super hot and humid in the summer.  This is one of those outfits that I can wear in the studio and feel good about meeting with clients or a vendor while still being comfortable and cool.  I can also feel good about running errands in this look or attending a church event.

Easy Maxi Dress

Olive Maxi Dress – Amazon | Brown Sandals – JCrew (old) Similar Here or Here | gold necklace – Stella and Dot last year
When I want to be a little more dressy such as Church on Sunday or in the shop when I know I have a client meeting, this is a great option.  The maxi dress still keeps me covered up when I’m bending over moving packages around or running after the dogs.  The necklace just adds a little interest and “ups” the dress just a bit.  Oh and this dress is under $25!
These sandals I wear all-the-time.  I bought them last year and loved them so much, I bought two more pair before they were gone at the end of the summer.  These or these would be good options too.

White Jeans Outfit

White Skinny Jeans – Liverpool | Green Tee – Loft (no longer available) | Brown Sandals – Old Navy available in other colors only.
This is my go-to outfit.  I wear this outfit at least once a week.  I’m honestly regretting not getting this tee in more colors when it was available back in the spring.  It’s lightweight but not see-through.  It’s the perfect length and just about the perfect tee.  These white jeans were in my last Stitch Fix and I have to say Liverpool brand jeans are becoming one of my favorite brands!  I have this pair and a dark pink pair and both are so incredibly soft and have just the right amount of stretch.  I also love that these jeans keep their shape all day long and through more than one wear.
I’ve been shopping some of the end of summer sales lately and bought the sandals at Old Navy.  They look really cute with so many outfits.  They were a great find.

Boyfriend Jeans Outfit for Summer

Boyfriend Jeans Banana Republic  – old but similar here| Stitch Fix Mixed Media Top | Birkenstock
Baggy, boyfriend jeans can get a little iffy if you are on the shorter side and curvy like me.  I have tried a ton and really like these.  The jeans in the photo aren’t online anymore but I do also have the girlfriend jeans linked above.  Both are slimmer than what I would normally expect from a jean like this but it works better for my body.  At 5’5″, I like a wide cuff to shorten my jeans in the summer.
This is my typical weekend look unless it’s hot and then the jeans become shorts.  My Birkenstocks are a few years old now and I have to say they have been well worth the money!  They are worn a lot and still look great and are super comfortable.

Casual Summer Outfit

denim shorts old – similar here |  Racer Tank – Loft | Flip Flops – Old Navy
I like to call this my “camping uniform”.  Whether we are headed up to my family’s property in the mountains or lounging at the beach, this is what I’m wearing.  It’s comfortable and durable and can handle getting a little dirty!
I don’t wear the plastic flip flops nearly as much as I used to but when I want a simple pair, I always hit Old Navy.  They have been my go-to place for these basic flip flops for as long as I can remember and they are only $2.50 right now!

Cropped Pants and open toe booties

With my work life going through a change this year, I’ve been turning to more casual pieces that still work for a more polished look.  I was first introduced to this style of pant (not even sure what to call them) when I was doing the Trendsend subscription.  I wasn’t sure about them at first and have found that I really love the style.  They feel like sweatpants but are actual pants that can be worn with sneakers or dress shoes.  I’m all about versatility in my clothes!

Casual Dress Outfit

casual dress and converse
Simple Dress – Nordstrom | Denim Jacket – Similar | Converse Sneakers
I’m a dress girl so when I can wear a dress over shorts, I do.  Carrying some extra pounds, I wasn’t sure I would be able to wear a dress like this but the key is finding options that have flattering details.  This dress has ruching which hides problem areas.
A simple dress like this can be worn casually like I’m showing here but add some fun booties and a great necklace and you are good for a girl’s night out or date with the Mr.

Skinny Jeans and Tank Top Summer Outfit

Another version of my daily uniform.  This top is perfection from the soft fabric to the length and just the right amount of looseness.  It’s currently on sale and I’m considering one or two more colors.  This is a great option for working in the shop, doing things at home or running errands.
Whether you are a full time blogger or online business owner or a stay at home mom, these simple, late summer looks keep you feeling put together while still being practical for your life.  I’d love to know if this is helpful or what I can do to make it even more helpful.

cozy and festive Christmas bedroom in red

5 Ways to Transition Your Decor from Fall to Christmas (Without Feeling Rushed)

There’s something about a cottage-inspired home that instantly feels welcoming. Maybe it’s the layers of soft fabrics, the warm glow of a lamp in the corner, or the way everyday items are displayed with charm. To me, “cozy” doesn’t mean cluttered — it means creating a space where you can truly relax and enjoy the simple beauty of home. Over the years, I’ve discovered a few essentials that always make our home feel inviting and comfortable. These cozy touches are timeless, affordable, and easy to add no matter the size or style of your home. 🛋️ Soft Layers & Textiles Nothing says cozy like a stack of pillows and a throw draped over the sofa. I love mixing neutral tones with subtle patterns — florals, stripes, or checks — to create that layered, collected look. In bedrooms, a quilt or coverlet at the foot of the bed adds both charm and warmth. Image Suggestion: Wide shot of your living room sofa with throws and pillows layered. Pin-worthy vertical image. 🕯️ Warm Lighting Overhead lighting can feel harsh, so I rely on lamps, sconces, and even candles to create a warm glow. A cottage-inspired home shines with layered lighting — the soft glow of a lamp in the evening makes a room instantly more inviting. Image Suggestion: Close-up of a side table with a lamp, book stack, and candle burning. 🌿 Natural Elements Fresh flowers in simple vases, a basket by the door, a vintage wooden bowl — natural elements bring warmth and texture to a cottage home. Even faux greenery works if you mix it thoughtfully. Image Suggestion: Seasonal arrangement on your entryway table or kitchen counter (sunflowers, hydrangeas, or eucalyptus in fall). 📚 Personal Touches Books, artwork, and vintage finds tell your story. A stack of well-loved novels, a thrifted oil painting, or a collection of blue-and-white dishes make a space feel lived in and personal. Cozy isn’t about buying new — it’s about surrounding yourself with what you love. Image Suggestion: Styled bookcase or coffee table vignette with books + art + personal accents. 🧺 Comfort Underfoot Rugs are one of the easiest ways to add coziness to a room. I love mixing a natural jute or sisal rug with a smaller patterned rug layered on top. It adds instant warmth and that collected, cottage feel. Image Suggestion: Angle of your living room or bedroom showing layered rugs. 🍵 Kitchen Comforts A cozy home isn’t complete without the kitchen. For me, it’s having a favorite mug for my morning coffee, simple linen towels, and a candle flickering while I cook dinner. These small details make the everyday feel special. Image Suggestion: Coffee setup with mugs + candle + linen towel. Conclusion At the end of the day, creating a cozy cottage-inspired home isn’t about following strict rules. It’s about layering soft textures, adding warm light, and filling your rooms with pieces that feel personal and meaningful. These cozy essentials are what make our house feel like home — and I hope they inspire you to create the same in your space.
